Welcome Back: 2024-2025 School Year.

Dear Carlyle families,

On behalf of our entire Carlyle community, we are delighted to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. We hope you all enjoyed an excitingly fun-filled, and restful summer vacation with your family and that you are recharged, energized, in embracing a new academic school year.

The first day of school is Thursday, August 29TH, 2024. School times remain the same as last year. Homeroom begins at 9:15 a.m. and the school day ends at 3:55 p.m.

Important General Reminders:

  1. Email communication will be sent to our families as required: On a Monthly basis the administration will inform parents and guardians of school life and upcoming events with the issuance of a monthly calendar and newsletter. Also, email communications will be sent to parents and guardians as required and in the event of sudden changes or information.

  2. Agenda Communication with teachers: Please use the agenda to communicate with teachers.

  3. School supplies: Parents and guardians are responsible for supplying their children with the classroom essentials. The list was sent home, but it is available on Carlyle website.

  4. Lunch: Students are supervised by lunch supervision monitors and have lunch in their classrooms. We encourage you to pack a nutritious lunch. Please use reusable utensils. Merenda Hot lunches are also an option that begins September 9. You can visit their website at traiteurmerenda.com - Regular meals cost $6.75 and large meals cost $7.25.

  5. Late Arrivals: Students must be dropped off at the main entrance after 9:15. Once buzzed in, ONLY the student will be allowed to enter the building and report to the main entrance for a late slip.

  6. We kindly ask that only one parent/guardian wait outside the yard for drop off and/ or pick up at dismissal.

  7. It is your responsibility as a parent to inform the homeroom teacher if your child is taking a bus, is being picked up or attending daycare. Please try to avoid last minute changes with your child’s dismissal routine. Please call the school before 1:30 to make sudden dismissal changes ***PLEASE USE YOUR CHILD’S AGENDA TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR TEACHER*****

  8. All visitors or guests (including parents) must enter by the main entrance and sign in at the office.

  9. Busing Information: For busing inquiries, please email Ms. Kelly Anastasiadis at kanastasiadis@emsb.qc.ca. As per school board directives, accommodation busing will only be available after September 30th, 2024. For any information regarding registration and missing documents, please email Ms. Kelly and to make an appointment. For any other concerns, please email the principal for an appointment at dvourdousis@emsb.qc.ca or vice principal mbenvenuto@emsb.qc.ca .

  10. BASE Daycare will be using the main entrance in the morning and the junior yard door after school for dismissal.

Reminders for Pre-K and Kindergarten Progressive Entry

The transition to Preschool can be challenging for students, therefore Pre-K and Kindergarten students will have a few days to slowly transition into the routine. The progressive entry will take place as follows. Students are asked to come to the Senior Yard (on Kindersley Avenue):

Thursday, August 29th, 2024:

Pre-Kindergarten: 1:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Kindergarten: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Friday, August 30th, 2024:
Pre-Kindergarten: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Kindergarten: 1:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday, September 3rd - The first regular school day for all Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Please make sure you send a snack, a lunch, and two full bottles of water on that day, as the children will only be dismissed at the end of the school day (between 3:45 and 3:50 p.m.). If you are picking up your child, please present yourself at the Junior schoolyard gate (next to the playground) to receive your child.

Busing and Daycare services for Pre-K and Kindergarten students will only start on the first regular school day, this Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.

First day of school for Grades 1-6 and Entry/Dismissal Procedures First Day of School for Grades 1-6 on August 29, 2024: Entry Procedure:

  • There will be supervision outdoors as of 8:50 a.m.
  • On the first day of school, students will enter the Senior Yard (on Kindersley Avenue).
  • Parents are asked to drop off their child(ren) and leave the premises immediately.
  • Students will report to their designated area separated by grade level (will be indicated)
  • ALL NEW STUDENTS must go to the Junior Yard (next to the playground)
  • Students registered in BASE Daycare (from 7:15 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.) will enter the school by the main entrance (on CarlyleAvenue)
  • From 8:50 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.: Students who are dropped off or take the bus will enter the Senior Yard (on KindersleyAvenue)
  • Parents are asked to drop off their child(ren) and leave the premises immediately to alleviate the congestion at the gate entrance.

Dismissal Procedure:

  • Students registered in BASE Daycare after school will be led to their respective rooms
  • Students who take the bus will line up in the Senior Yard (on Kindersley Avenue)
  • Students who are picked up by a parent/guardian will be dismissed in the JuniorYard (next to the playground)
  • Parents are asked to pick up their child(ren) and leave the premises immediately to alleviate the congestion at the gate entrance.
