On May 12 and 13, 2026, Carlyle School welcomed Ceramic Café for a dynamic, school-wide art experience that brought creativity to life across all grade levels.

During this hands-on workshop, students designed and painted their own ceramic vases, exploring a variety of artistic techniques while expressing their individuality through colour, pattern, and design. Each creation reflected the unique ideas and perspectives of our students, making the experience both personal and meaningful.

This initiative was thoughtfully connected to the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), encouraging students to reflect on their creative choices, communicate meaning through visual art, and develop an appreciation for diverse forms of artistic expression. Students were also invited to consider how their designs could represent personal identity and cultural influences—an important component of developing global-minded learners.

Beyond the artistic experience, the activity supported Carlyle’s commitment to transdisciplinary learning. Students engaged in inquiry, reflection, and collaboration, reinforcing the value of learning through hands-on exploration and creative expression.

The enthusiasm and engagement seen throughout the two days highlighted the vibrant learning environment at Carlyle. Experiences like these showcase how the school nurtures creativity, confidence, and curiosity in every student.

At Carlyle, learning goes beyond the classroom—students are encouraged to explore, create, and express who they are.
